If you were paying attention before, you'd know where I am now (other than 1.3 miles away from downtown).

That's one way to lock a door.

I didn't even notice this thing before. It's a fully enclosed stair/walk way that goes under the bridge and off out of sight into the steam plant. Weird.

Going down? ... Not today. There's some crazy looking guy on a bike coming down the hill behind me. Time to go! :)

The label on one of those huge tanks by the steam plant. What is this stuff?

"FO-TK112B
No. 2 Fuel Oil
225,000 gallons"

This one says:

"FO-TK112A
No. 2 Fuel Oil
500,000 gallons"

The steam plant from partially down the river bank access road.

Don't mess with the dumpster-o-asbestos!

"ASBESTOS

These are on a back door to the steam plant. Be careful in there.

Those are some really skinny boats.

Now I'm under the bridge looking southeast.

There's the lower St. Anthony falls.

I was standing over there.

The green bridge is 35W.

More falls. Those big red things move. I assume to maintain the higher water level.

There's the mysterious pipe that goes nowhere. I still don't understand.

dcp 0817

dcp 0817
It comes out of the ground right behind these trees. There is a big brown tank there too. You can kind of see it.

More fuel. You can read this one.

I ended up right by the east end of the stone arch bridge. Time to head back.

Remember that big barge from before? Well, here it is again about ready to leave the upper lock. The thing was so long that it wouldn't all fit into the lock the way it was. The tug boat is actually sitting next to the rest of the barge in there...

dcp 0822

dcp 0822
The tug boat was tethered to the side of the barges. To get out, it started the barges moving slowly forward, and then the boat detached and waited until the brown guys had floated completely past it. The boat then caught up to the back side, tethered on, and resumed its normal operation. Cool.

All tied up and ready to go. And so am I since the camera is full.
